Indonesia is very well known for its beautiful beaches and its capital, Jakarta, it’s very well known as well due to being a vibrant and very rich in culture. But how about if I tell you that there is much more about this nation? Spread over thousands of volcanic islands, Indonesia is home to a vast number of wildlife, Temples and natural features. Let’s now check some of this amazing places bellow.

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot, situated in the island of Bali, is a rock formation that homes the ancient Hindu pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot. This location is highly visited by tourists due to its unique offshore setting and sunset backdrops that are just perfect for that so wanted photo.

Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple is located in Uluwatu and it’s a Hindu sea temple located approximately 70 metres above sea level on top of a cliff. Within this temple, there are stunning ancient sculptures and traditionally designed gateways all wrapped with magnificent Balinese architecture.  Due to its location, it is expected to amaze everyone with delightful sunsets with direct views overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Seminyak

Seminyak is located in the southern end of Bali is consists of a very popular beach resort due to its grey sand and crystal clear waters. This destination its ideal for families or for whom likes to enjoy the beach during the day and also take part in more urban activities. Within this resort, tourists can take part in a wide variety of activities such as shopping, spa days, cocktails at luxurious and electric bars and clubs and even surfing.

Borobudur

Borobudur or Barabudur is situated in Central Java and is a Mahayana Buddhist temple built in the 9th century. This temple is the world’s largest Buddhist temple and consists of a 123m2 decorated with 504 Buddha statues and 2672 relief panels. The most amazing feature regarding this structure is the fact that no materials to hold it together with such as cement were used and it was so well built that remained almost intact for over ten centuries of neglect after being discovered under volcanic ash.

Komodo National Park

The Komodo National Park, situated in the centre of the Indonesian archipelago and between the islands of Flores and Sumbawa, it is home to the famous and unique Komodo dragon and includes three major islands and a large number of smaller islands, in total with an area of 1817km. The National park was declared World Heritage Site and Man and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986 due to its marine and terrestrial biodiversity.

Kraton Ratu Boko

Ratu Boko or Ratu Baka is situated in Java and consists in an archaeological site, more precisely, the remnant of a Hindu Palace complex dating from the 8th or 9th century. With inscriptions telling his own story, this place is still part a mystery regarding exact building date and what was the purpose of the site, leading to a few different findings and opinions between the ones who study the place. Due to its condition, this archaeological site is not on the list on many tourists and this can also be an advantage as there is nothing better than enjoy such an amazing place without all the noise and people involved.

Prambanan Temple compounds

The Prambanan Temple compounds are situated in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. It is believed that this Hindu temple compound was built in the 9th or 10th century and it was build dedicated to Shiva, is now considered the largest temple compound dedicated to Shiva that was ever in Indonesia. All compound consists of a total of 240 temples and it was given the title of World Heritage site by UNESCO.

As with any other destination, it is recommended to get yourself informed about visas, currency and cultural aspects prior to the visit in order to avoid any inconvenience. It is also important to respect culture and environment.
